A new CSA Standard has been launched in response to increasing incidents of vandalism, theft and now eco-terrorism in Canada. The new standard, Security Management for Petroleum & Natural Gas Industry Systems, focuses on enhanced security measures for inland oil and gas infrastructure. The standard recommends that producers have visual confirmation of employees as they enter remote facilities through access control (9.3.7 Access Control). The standard also identifies that site surveillance to an area or security perimeter can be done through the use of video cameras (9.3.9 Closed circuit video surveillance).

A technology-based company focused on video surveillance has created a unique video sensor that will help the petroleum sector meet the requirements of the CSA Standard.
