Computer based analysis of video images have come a long way. Early in the evolution of this technology, simple video viewing and/or recording was enough, but as speed and mass storage in computer technology increased, digital analysis (analytics) of events is now possible and becoming popular in leading edge video surveillance systems. It is now possible for specific events to trigger responses (usually called alarms) when those events occur. Oil and Gas Industry

The oil and gas industry in Western Canada operates more than a million wells and remote facilities, and many thousands of kilometres of pipelines.
